New units a great way to chill out

A NEW product line has been launched at Dave Linford Ltd, centred on the manufacture and supply of mobile chillers/freezers, which are available for hire or purchase designed and built to a client’s individual specification.

The self-contained units have a temperature range of minus 20C to plus 15C, come with slam-faced or manual sliding doors and are equipped with racking, where necessary, and they work off a normal 13-amp, 240-volt electrical supply.

Two standard models – measuring 2 x 3 metres and 2 x 3.5 metres in floor area – have also been designed for easy transport and manoeuvrability. Both can be loaded with a forklift on to a flat- bed truck and moved around in situ using pallet trucks.

However, the company can produce units of any dimensions and all are manufactured at its Stallingborough production factory, with only the insulation panels and refrigeration plant being bought in.

It’s an exciting development for Dave Linford Ltd, which supplies the food industry with everything from auto-sliding freezer and chiller doors and high-speed doors to panelling, slam-faced doors and vertical lift chill and freezer doors.

The new units have distinct benefits, according to Dave Linford, joint-owner of the business with wife Leigh.

He said: “Mobile chiller and freezer units usually need to be kept outside, partly because of their dimensions, but also because they don’t generally meet food safety standards.

“These new units we’re manufacturing conform to these standards, plus they’re supplied fully assembled and have a low threshold height for easy access and thus a reduced risk of accidents. We simply deliver them – courtesy of Immingham-based Aaro Light Haulage – install them in their allocated position and show the clients how to operate them, which is very straightforward.

“They can then be moved as necessary and are available for hire at highly competitive rates.”

The units have been developed in response to a need identified by Mr Linford, who has more than 30 years’ experience in the food industry.

He said: “We’ve often helped clients to relocate their refrigeration facilities and know very well that as businesses grow, their requirements change, which underlined the benefits of a highly flexible option, such as our new mobile units.

“They’re ideal for when a company is developing a new food product line, for example, and this has to be kept separate to avoid contamination, as well as for peak production times, when temporary refrigeration capacity is required.

“Outdoor events, such as agricultural shows, concerts and weddings, are another application. And although we only launched the units last month, we’ve already had inquiries about long-term hire and purchasing.”
